About Me

I am an Alexander certified oil painting instructor.  I have been teaching classes to beginning painters and aspiring artists since September 2005.  I teach at a local Hobby Lobby store in Columbus, GA; and I am available to small groups for private lessons as well.

I am also a Frank Clarke certified watercolor instructor, but I have not found the time to begin teaching this class yet.  I do, however, paint many watercolors on my own.  I am in the process of developing a watercolor course for beginners, which I will begin teaching once it is ready.

I was not always interested in the arts.  As a matter of fact, I was totalling turned off by anything that remotely resembled art.  I earn my living in a totally unrelated field (the medical/health care field), and I thought I didn't have a single strand of talent.  I believed there was no way I could learn to paint.  After hearing from multiple different artists that all I needed to do was get some instruction and start painting, I decided to do just that.

Depending on the topic of my site, I could include historical information about my subject. For example, if my site is about my business, I could discuss how my business got started. If my site is about a sports team, music group, movie star, or my family, I could chronologically list or summarize major events important to my topic.

My About page is also a great place to give information about others involved with my site's topic, such as the leaders of my organization, club, or company; an ancestor; my family; and so forth.
